3 Tried & True Body Exfoliators For Silky Smooth Skin
Using some form of body exfoliant has always been a regular part of our shower routine. A body scrub gives us baby soft skin and helps to prevent ingrown hairs. However, it’s taken us a while to find clean and sustainable replacements that we like. So, put away your apricot scrub and your mesh loofas because we’re sharing 3 swaps that we’ve been using and loving for the past few months.
01. C & THE MOON MALIBU MADE BODY SCRUB
We love sugar body scrubs because it’s so easy to find (or make!) and all natural one. This one is leagues above the rest because the brown sugar granules are much larger. Which means they don’t melt away as quickly in your warm, steamy shower! It’s also ethically made in LA, a portion of the proceeds are donated to the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the packaging is plastic free - so there’s lots to love about this product!
Bottom line: the mix of natural brown sugar and organic oils means this exfoliating scrub is perfect for the roughest, driest areas of your skin.
02. THE MICRODERMAMITT
This exfoliating body mitt is made with 100% natural floss silk. It should be used on wet skin, without any soaps, cleansers, or body wash. The rough weave on this mitt provides real deep exfoliation. However, we’ve found that it can dry out our skin (we already have dry skin to begin with, so that’s not really a surprise). So it’s important to use an ultra thick and moisturizing lotion afterwards.
Bottom line: If you’re looking to reduce the amount of waste and/or plastic in your life this exfoliator is for you.
03. NECESSAIRE THE BODY EXFOLIATOR
There are two ways this exfoliator removes dead skin cells. Physically with the use of pumice and bamboo charcoal, and chemically with glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids. This may sound harsh, but its actually one of the more gentle exfoliants we’ve used! And it comes in 3 delicious scents (we have the bergamot flavor) or unscented if your sensitive to those kinds of things.
Bottom line: If you have sensitive skin or if you’re having breakouts this is a good option for you.
